Ok, I give up!

Good Morning!

It has been so hard to resist starting my Christmas cards too early but I have seen so many beautiful Christmas cards and projects in blog-land recently that I can not resist any longer so I give up, I’m joining in too! :)

I’m kicking off my festive offerings with my first Case Study entry, the lovely card by Niki Estes was perfect for my first attempt. I scored my green card stock in diagonal lines and added red gems at the intersections for some sparkle, I cut my letters on my Craftrobo/Silhouette and stitched around the edge of my front panel leaving a blank space for the lettering. I made the poinsettia cut file from the existing digi I have on this page, I cut all of the petals in red then cut the largest 2 sections again, slightly larger in green. I sponged all of the edges then ‘drew’ some veins on the reverse of the petals and leaves with an embossing stylus and a stamping pad (the soft side of a mouse mat is fine for this) then popped a metallic brad through the holes in the middle to hold it all together.

New Flower and Border Cut Files

Good Afternoon!

I’m taking a break from my Halloween projects and The Shabby Tea Room had the perfect inspiration photo yesterday of Fall Flowers, we had to use the colours from the photo and incorporate lots of flowers. I considered using one of my existing cut files but thought, na, I’ll make a new one. I’ve gone for a rose feel with my petals giving them wavy edges and giving you a 3 and 4 petaled versions to add some irregularity and dimension. I added some rose shaped leaves for you too and I even made some matching borders which echo the wavy edges of the petals. I hope you like them :)

I chose 2 floral patterned papers from GCDs Lydia Collection, I cut them into 1 3/4 inch squares and stitched them onto some beige card. I cut 2 of the borders and popped some more of the floral paper on top and stitched around. This is my first stitched card with my new machine, ok it’s not perfect but it could be worse, right? I cut several of the 3 and 4 petal flower shapes in different sizes, I rounded them from the reverse side on a soft stamping pad then popped a brad through the middle. I creased the leaves down the middle before tucking behind the flower and gluing into place.

Coffin Box

Hello There!

Brrrrrrr, it’s cold here! We had a very weird heat wave last week but now we’ve been well and truly thrown into an Autumnal chill so it feels right that I’m in the middle of Halloween projects now and starting my Christmas ones too. I took my first tentative steps on my sparkly new sewing machine today, I tried out straight and zig-zag stitches. It went really well but I think I need some practice with feeding the paper through straight and to be less heavy footed on the peddle so the paper stops running away from me, the sewing machine is completely awesome I just need to fine tune the person using it, lol.

I have a little coffin treat box for you today, I made one a couple of Halloweens ago but I’ve given this one more depth so it will hold bigger sweets. I have a cut file for those of you with digital cutters and a template version for those of you without as I think it’s a simple enough shape to attack with scissors or a craft knife. The top and bottom parts are included, I cut both parts from one piece of A4 but for a larger one you can cut each part on a separate piece of card. I hope the little trick or treaters in your life will like it :)
