One Card, Two Looks! – First Posted: Thursday, June 16, 2011

Good Morning!

I don’t know if you are the same as me but I find male cards quite tricky to do and there are a lot of blokes in my family, typical lol, so I thought I’d go for a 3D type card for Fathers Day this year and chose a swing card sometimes called flip flop cards. I was finding it a bit difficult to make my swing card as I use a guillotine rather than a slide type paper cutter so it was the perfect excuse to make a cut file, like I need one! hehe. So I have a swing card digital cut file for you today complete with 2 matting layers as I have used in my cards here, It produces a square card and all you need to do is size the card height to your desired size (ensuring to keep everything in proportion).

I thought I would show you both the cards I made which look dramatically different even though they use the exact same cut file and matting layers, I used different colour ways and minimal embellishments to tailor the cards to each recipient. One of our Dads likes light & airy colours and a touch of glitter, the other loves heavy metal and motorbikes but I bet you worked that out already, lol.

swing card front

I layered pearlised card stars cut in coordinating colours to embellish the first card and used silver snaps for the second to look like studs or rivets (brads would achieve the same effect).

swing card back

Both back panels have a glitter card base, I used a bold font for the first card as I planned to insert these little stars and backed with 2 colours of glitter card, I used an Iron Maiden type font for the second which came in 2 layers which I backed with satin silver card.

Bluebells – First Posted: Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Good Afternoon!

I have floral digi for you today, this time some bluebells in a mug as its the sort of thing I do with smaller flowers when a vase is too big. The mug is one brought back from Munich by my fella for me when he was there on a business trip (it was full of choccies too – yum yum!), he knows how much I love my mug of tea and don’t function too well in the mornings ’til I’ve had one! ha ha.

I printed my digi in a blue-y grey colour and attacked it with copics. The doily frame is actually a crochet coaster which has a cotton center with a crochet edge, they came in a pack of 12 from the pound shop, I do love a bargain!

Right, I’m off to enter into Stamp Something, Bunny Zoe’s Crafts, Make it Monday, Craft-Room & Craft Your Passion Challenges.

bright & sunny – Celtic Tag 1 – First Posted: Friday, June 03, 2011

Hiyah!

I hope you have your sunglasses on for this one! ha ha. It’s glorious weather here today, all bright, sunny and warm and I think it reflects in my project today. I bought a packet of notebooks recently for doing my digi and card sketches but when I opened them up I found that they didn’t have covers, a good excuse to get some patterned paper out and make my own me thinks!

I used a cut file that was one of the very first I made but haven’t had an opportunity to use yet, the shape of it means that it works very well as a ribbon slider although I decided against using ribbon for this project. As this is a book cover it needs to be quite one-dimensional so it can be folded over to the back and be nice and flat. The scalloped loop border I used is from scallop loop borders 2 and that crazy bright paper is from Making Memories – Maddi.
