Trying a new technique – First Posted: Wednesday, January 13, 2010

I made this card a couple of days ago but I’ve been having some teething troubles with my new camera, it has lots of settings and features that I need to get used to but I think I have settled on a combination of settings that I’m happy with for now and I’ll tweek it a bit over time.

I want to try some new techniques so I had a peek at the technique challenge section on the Splitcoast Stampers Forum and chose Quilting for this card.

I picked 4 sheets of co-ordinating paper from the same paper pack and punched lots of squares from each using a square paper punch. I covered some lightweight card stock with double-sided sticky tape and stuck down my squares alternating them as I went until the whole area was covered. I popped it into my bigshot to shape it using the large spellbinders nested Butterfly which I shaped a little to add some dimension, I added some ribbon to represent the antennae and punched some small hearts from a glitter sticker sheet to use as a trail.

First Card of 2010 – First Posted: Sunday, January 10, 2010

yay, I made a card, the card-makers block is over :)

I used the love oval digi which I changed to a bright pink colour in photoshop, sized to 3.5 inches in Word and printed onto pale pink textured card stock. I coloured in the flourish around the L and the stripe around the edge with markers then attached it to my card base with sticky foam pads. My card base is a patterned tall card which I cut down to make 2 smaller cards which measure approximately 4 x 4.5 inches each. To finish, I formed a bow in my ribbon using a square snap and added 2 punched out and sponged hearts to my oval and a dash of glitter to both.

production line – First Posted: Saturday, December 19, 2009

I went for a gold theme this year with the gifts I sent to family, here are my gift card holders.

I layered my gold vellum from Anita’s Christmas Gold Vellums 6″x6″ paper pad on top of white card stock, my embellishment is made of the Merry Christmas oval sized to match my oval punch and 2 of the snowflakes from the Spellbinders snowflake border dies finished with small clear gems. The colour scheme was followed through with gold brads and 1/2″ gold ribbon.
