Just Hanging Around

Good Afternoon!

I have my final installment of my birdcage files as promised, today I have the last birdcage shape along with a Cherry Blossom card with an oriental feel to hang the birdcage from. For those of you without digital cutting machines I have 4 digis for you today, 3 different birdcages on stands and one incorporating the cherry blossom to give you a similar effect to todays card.

I cut my card base in white card and added a layer of patterned paper around the border. I cut my branch in brown card then reduced the size of some of the blossoms to add to the tips of the branches and cut them in pink card. I pressed the middle of each flower blossom into a soft stamp pad (the soft side of a mouse mat would do the trick too) with an embossing stylus to add some shape then stuck down with little dabs of glue. I cut my cage, perch and bird from some pale brown card then shaded the bird and perch with copics to make them stand out poked a hole in the top then threaded and tied it to the branch with some thick cotton. When you stand the card up you get a great effect as the little birdcage spins around in the opening.

Happy Bird-Day

Hi Guys!

It’s the second installment of the birdcage collection I have for you, the final lot will be with you in the next post then I’ll move on to something else, if you have any preference you never know ;). I have some different shaped cages for you today and some stands for them to sit on if you’d like a variation to hanging them along with some co-ordinating sentiments. I hope you like them :)

I followed iSpy Sketches for my card layout and my colour choices were inspired by CR84FN‘s challenge. I used the perch and bird shapes which I shared in my last post which I cut in white card then later decided to colour with different shades of pink markers. I used a pink patterned paper as my base layer then I embossed a white piece of card and used 2 panels of floral paper, layered them all onto white card then stitched around the edge with my sewing machine. I added a scalloped border to the longest panel then wrapped some organza ribbon around it and crumpled up 2 paper flowers which I added to my bow. I printed my sentiment in a matching aqua colour using this method and popped up on some 3d foam pads.

A little birdie told me…

Hiyah!

First of all I’d like to say oowww! I have gone a bit mad on the exercise bike lately, I’m never one for half measures and I’ve gone a bit ‘Biggest Loser’ with the whole thing. I started about 10 days ago doing 20 minutes a day and I’m now up to 1.25 hours having done 21 miles this morning. My legs are doing fine and I can tell that my endurance is improving but why oh why are bike seats so painful? ouchie poorly!!

Ok onto the freebies! I have a birdcage cut file for you today with the co-ordinating perches and birds to go inside, if you don’t have a cutting machine I will pop up a digi version or two in the next couple of posts. You might notice that this is birdcage no.1 so there will be more to come soon. I’ve had birdcages on my to-do list for a while now and I enjoyed making them, I just hope you will too and they’ll be a welcome addition to your stash :)

I used The Play Date Cafe‘s colour scheme as the inspiration for my card. I cut my cage then gently curved it and popped some foam pads underneath to hold the shape, I chose to use the silhouette of one of the birds and glued it to the arch shaped perch. I printed my sentiment in purple to match my card, cut with circle nestabilities, popped in an eyelet and formed it into a little tag to hang off my ribbon. When I added my front panel to my card I wished I had made it a little wider as there was too much space either side of it so I tucked in an extra white border behind the panel which did the trick – top tip! he he.

I wanted to show you how the birds look as silhouettes and with extra details as I couldn’t decide which I preferred to go inside the cages, the choice is yours :)
