The results from yesterdays brain wave – First Posted: Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Remember me mentioning that I had a brain wave yesterday? Well my idea was use an easel card as a stand to hold calendar pages or photographs. I made it and was so pleased with the results and afterwards double checked on Splitcoast Stampers to see if anyone had had the same idea and of course they had! lol. My design is slightly different from the ones I looked at and is a very easy diversion from Beate’s original tutorial.

You can find Beate’s excellent tutorial here, I followed all of the dimensions but instead of decorating the card front I added a 1.5 inch panel along the bottom of the front which has double-sided sticky foam pads along the bottom and down both sides to form a pocket. The pocket will hold a 3.25 inch square perfectly which happens to be the same size as the largest die in the Spellbinders nestabilities classic squares small, cool huh? :)

Bottle Card + Template – First Posted: Saturday, January 23, 2010

I needed to make a 50th birthday card for a man and was a bit stuck for what to do so I had a look on Splitcoast Stampers and found this card which I thought was great and have used as my inspiration.

I made my own Template, I sized it to 8″ tall and 4″ wide in Word to ensure it would fit into a DL sized envelope then printed it out onto printer paper. I cut round the shape then placed it onto my Card with the dotted line along the score line in the card, drew around it with a pencil and cut along my pencil line.

I decorated the front of my card with different gold card pieces cut from various Spellbinders dies, I added his date of birth in the lower panel which I followed up with ‘A rather good vintage’ on the inside and printed ‘Oldus Manus’ on the top oval to inject some humour.

Impressabilities with Glitter + Video – First Posted: Thursday, January 21, 2010

Yesterdays video showed how I created a 2 colour glitter pattern with my brass stencils, todays video shows how I do the same with my Impressabilities. I like to use my crafting stash in as many ways as possible and was so pleased to find that this technique worked with my Impressabilities, although they are quite delicate it works fine if you take a little care. Impressabilities have such an intricate design so they leave a strikingly detailed effect and are large enough to cover an entire card or create many shapes from as I have in this video.

I used the Butterfly design in the Thank you card below and the Snowflake design in the bauble card.
