You’re Sweet!

Hiyah!

I have a sweet freebie for you today, It’s a cupcake digi and matching circle sentiment. I hope you have as much fun using these in your projects as I have had making today’s card.

I was craving chocolate when I made this digi so when it came to colouring, it just had to be a chocolate cupcake with pink icing, if only I could eat it, lol. I trimmed my cupcake with scissors and popped it inside my circle sentiment which was cut out and embossed with circle nestabilities, both were given some dimension with 3D foam pads. The colour scheme of my card had to be dictated by the colour of my image so I just gave in and went with it!

Edit: when you expand the sentiment it looks black as it is on a transparent background, it should save just fine.

Framed scene 4 + ribbon borders

Hello!

I have another framed scene for you today, this time it’s a night time cityscape. I tell ya, I’m having a whale of a time creating cut files, I have some border designs for threading ribbon through for you today, One is a plain border and the other two have scalloped edges, I hope you like them :)

I started my image by masking the cityscape and the moon (I printed the image again on printer paper, cut out the area I wanted to mask and stuck in place with re-positionable tape) then sponging the sky with various distress inks. I removed the masking paper and coloured the buildings with copics then applied some sakura stardust pen to the little stars to add some sparkle. I cut the scallop looped ribbon border and threaded my organza ribbon trough it and followed card patterns sketch for my card layout.

Card + Digi, Paper pack, Cut file & Frugal Tip

Hiyah!!!!!

I’m waving frantically here! You can’t see me?…ok, I’ll stop. So, if you are reading this my site has transferred to the new shiny version for you. I’m so chuffed with the change because I have a ton more flexibility and hopefully it is easier for you to navigate. You will see that you can now actually browse older posts, I can’t put into words how frustrating it was that I didn’t have an ‘older posts’ button before, but now I do! Yay! Also I’ve been able to pop an example beside each digi, cut file, paper pack etc which gives you an immediate idea of how that item can look when it is used on a project. I’ve tried to make everything clear and easy to find but if you have any questions feel free as I may have forgotten something.

Ok, I thought I’d make my first post on my brand spanking new site a bit of a bumper one, I have the stripey paper, digi stamp and wave border shape used on this card for you today and a frugal tip too.

I added a ‘you’re a treasure’ sentiment to my digi in word ( right click on the image, then click on ‘text wrapping’ and chose ‘behind text’ ) and printed in a taupe brown colour then coloured with Copics. This is my first experience of working with Hug Snug seam binding, I coloured it with some tumbled glass re-inker and zapped it with my heat gun while scrunching it. I’m absolutely delighted with it, it dyed like a dream and looks like it was always that colour. I followed the sketch from Mojo Monday so I added a floral embellishment, I attacked a white pearl with a Copic marker for the middle and hand cut some paper leaves.

Frugal Tip:

Here is a picture showing my wave border after it has been cut, but wait before you throw the negative portion away!

wave cut 1

I trimmed the sides off my negative piece of card (the left over bit), turned them upside down and voila! I now have a new border with a slightly different shape of wave. When I asked my fella which shape he preferred he chose the negative rather than the positive, lol.  Look out for other negative pieces which could be used in a similar way, for example, using the negative from a label shape as a frame. I love being able to make my stash go further, well it is kind on the wallet!

Phew! That’s it for me today, have a nice evening!
