Be My Valentine

Good Afternoon!

I have 2 digis and 2 cut files for you today and yes I know what you’re thinking, 3 posts in as many days? Well I like to keep you on your toes ;) Hopefully you would never know that I took this picture at around 10pm last night when it was pitch black outside, yay for my new craft light!

The starting point for my card were some puffy fabric hearts that I picked up in town a couple of days ago, they came in a bag of 3 for 15p (23 cents) bargain huh? Well I was sure I could use them somehow.

I took a digi I made last year in this post and isolated the scroll from the heart. I added a sentiment then cut the scroll into the seperate front and back pieces, coloured with Copics and stuck onto the heart with double sided tape. I followed this weeks Card Patterns sketch using my new decorative circle frame and border cut files which match the square frame from my Mums birthday card if the pattern looks familiar.

get whale soon

Hi There!

My other half sprung it on me at the last minute “Oh, I need a card today”, what are they like, huh? Well I got my card done in a couple of hours which is break neck speed for me considering I had to draw the digi too. I’m hoping I will be able to speed up a bit more in the future too, I’m sure I spend too much time ‘worrying’ and not enough time ‘doing’. My photo isn’t as clear as I’d like as it’s been a very grey day here so I’m going to try my new craft light (a Crimbo pressie from one of my Brothers) next time and see how that gets on.

I used this weeks Deconstructed Sketch for my layout, I love Jen’s Sketches but I’m likely to come back to this one again, I really like it. I coloured my little Whale with Copics then cut the wave border from this page and added my sentiment which was simply typed onto some textured card. The final touch was to add some shine to the water spray with a sakura glaze pen.

hanging stocking digi & 2 challenges

Good Afternoon!

I have a hanging stocking digi for you today, its the same as the little stockings hanging on the fireplace in that digi but I thought I’d share a bigger version to have as an image on its own.

I followed 2 challenges for today’s card, Mojo Monday for the sketch and The Play Date Cafe for my colour scheme. As I have started my Christmas cards I wanted to challenge myself to do a Christmas card in such non-traditional colours, well it was a struggle to get it finished. I had trouble getting a Christmas-y feel so I threw some glitter and gems into the mix and decided to draw a line underneath it and move on ;)

I’m having to hand wheel my sewing machine to ensure my stitching lines are straight, if anyone has any advice on this I would be very grateful as my paper/card slides all over the place when I use my pedal. I cut the snowflakes on my Craftrobo/Silhouette, they are from the cut file Snowflake set 1 on this page.
