I have a card to share today that was made for a family member who enjoys fishing so I thought I’d make a comical scene with a big menacing shark who’s about to get hooked and of course I have the individual elements as freebies for you :) I cut all of my pieces out on my Silhouette so I have all of the relevant cut files for you and I also have the digi versions if you’d like to colour them instead.

I used textured card stock for my pieces and sponged them with coordinating distress inks to add some dimension.

I punched a hole in my backing papers and attached my boat with 2 pennies and 3d foam tape just as you would for a penny slider card. There is no channel for the pennies to slide along, just a hole, so it rocks in place making my boat look as though it is bobbing on the waves.

This photo shows that I sandwiched some acetate between the layers of my boat cabin for my window.

My hook was a homemade affair, I bent some florist wire and attached it to some thread to make the fishing line, the hook swings around as the boat rocks. My shark was cut in grey card then I coloured his teeth with a white gel pen.

I have my third Fathers Day card for you today which is the card I sent to my Dad this year so I couldn’t post it before the day in case he spotted it and although you wouldn’t be able to use the fathers day sentiment ’til next year, all of the other items can be used any time of year :) My Dad has recently ventured into Bee Keeping so I have some bee themed elements for you today. There are 2 bee cut files and a wooden bee hive cut file too and for those of you without a digital cutting machine I created a digi bee scene for you to colour, I also have 2 matching sentiments. There is a cut file for the pop up slider card base, you can find it in my last post here.

I wanted to give the hive a bit of a realistic feel by swiping some darker brown ink over my hive pieces to give a wood effect and lifted the bottom of each slat with 3d foam pads to add dimension. I mounted my little bees onto strips of acetate then attached to the back of the hive so they appear to flutter in mid air and the iridescent vellum I used for the wings looks really effective when they catch the light.
