Hexagon Backgrounds

Hello There!

I have a new addition to the Mix and Match Cards and Sentiments, this time there is a Bee theme. There is the little Bee that is used in the Bee Mine sentiment square and the backgrounds have a Honeycomb look with their Hexagon Patterns. The sentiment was made with Valentines Day in mind but the background panel and background card can be used for any occasion.

To show a slightly different way to cut the mix and match cards, I opened both the card and the sentiment square in my cutting software (Make the Cut), I ensured that my square was perfectly placed in the center of the patterned area of the card then removed the outside line only of the sentiment square. This allowed me to cut the patterned card with the sentiment as part of it, all at once, from one piece of card.  This does produce a decidedly 2 dimensional card but it does save on card stock and time if you are in a rush.

Teddy

Hiyah!

I have another Baby or Child themed cut file for you today, it’s a cute little Teddy Bear and I made him look like he is waving to you. My Teddy cut file has quite a few layers to it but you can pick and chose which ones to use and therefore how much dimension you’d like to give him.

I found a scrap of pink gingham paper that was large enough to cut all of the pieces of my Teddy Bear from, I also cut some circles from the remaining scrap. I assembled my Bear using a combination of glue and 3d foam pads, I used the foam pads to give dimension to the head, feet and arm. I cut a white circle large enough for my Teddy to sit on, I trimmed off the 2 edges that overhung the sides of my card then glued the gingham circles behind the edge of the circle to form a scallop. I wrapped some seam binding around a square of pink patterned paper which I had sewn onto some white card, I then tied a bow and added a button and some thread. I mounted both of my layers onto my card base, I printed my sentiment in pink and cut a ribbon edge with scissors then stuck it down with more foam pads.

Pram – What no Swirls?

Good Evening!

I’m giving you a break from all of the swirly-ness that’s been dominating things around here lately, I may revisit them but lets do something else for a while :) I’ve had a couple of people mention that some Baby cut files might be a good addition to my collection so I’ve started off with a Pram, you may call them Strollers where you are. I’ve given you a couple of scalloped edges for your pram but you could leave those off if you were doing a boys card and you think it looks a bit girly.

I used one of the backgrounds I made and described in this post, I cut my pram pieces out of some aqua, white and grey card to match my background panel then assembled it. I cut some white card into an arch shape and popped my pram onto it with some 3d foam pads. I wrapped some white seam binding around my background panel, I tied it into a bow then added a button and my sentiment tag with some thread. The tag is simply made by printing a sentiment onto some card, die cutting it with a circle die and popping in an eyelet.
